Groceries cost enough.
Let's make dinner cost less.

Our approach

Independent

We're not a supermarket. Just good food and honest numbers.

Built for real life

Flexible, practical and actually helpful on a week night.

Growing together

A small NZ team, on a bigger mission of making sure New Zealand families do not over pay supermarkets for their groceries.

A few sensible questions

Which supermarket is cheapest?

Annoyingly, it depends.

It depends on what you're cooking and what's happening with prices that week.

So Kepie prices your dinners at PAK'nSAVE, New World and Woolworths and puts the totals next to each other.

No national average. No guess. Just your shop.

Where do the prices come from?

From the supermarkets' own online shops.

We refresh them every week and compare like with like when pack sizes differ.

Individual stores can vary a little, so the checkout is always the final word.

See how we price things
How much does a week of dinners cost?

That's precisely the problem. It depends what you're eating.

Pick your five dinners and Kepie will tell you what they'll cost before you shop.

Much more useful than us making up an average family who apparently eats exactly the same thing every Wednesday.

Is Kepie free?

Yep. No subscription. No paid tier. Nobody pays us to change a recommendation, and we don't sell your individual data.

Groceries are quite expensive enough already.

Do I need an account?

While we're in limited beta, yes.

It's just your email and a 6-digit code. No password to forget.

It also means your dinners, pantry and shopping list can follow you between devices.

Can I trust the prices?

We'd very much like you to check us.

Kepie uses the supermarkets' own online prices, refreshed weekly.

We don't guess missing prices and we don't pretend different pack sizes are the same thing.

How Kepie prices things
So, who really is behind Kepie?

A small NZ team called Custard Square. We build our own things, from hot honey to apps, usually because something everyday is more annoying than it should be.

Kepie started with grocery bills, dinner planning and the feeling that somebody ought to make the whole thing fairer and easier.

Next week is going to need dinner too.
